Andrew Christian Andersen, Jr., loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully in his home on May 23, 2024 in Arlington Heights, Illinois after an extended battle with cancer. Andrew was born on October 2,1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Andrew Andersen Sr. and Eleanor (nee Schuette) Andersen.
After spending his childhood in Chicago, his family moved to Palatine IL in 1956 where Andy graduated from Palatine High School in 1961. He met his wife Frances in 1962, they were married on September 19, 1964. They had two children, Suzanne (1965) and Andrew III (1968). They lived in Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect, Libertyville, and Palatine before moving to Luther Village until his passing.
In 1963, he began a life long 47 year career with Weber Stephen Products, growing his career as the company grew as well from Wood Dale to Arlington Heights, then Palatine and Huntley. He worked in various leadership roles in manufacturing and logisitics. He forged many lifelong friendships with coworkers and was very proud of his accomplishments there.
Andy had a love of history and truly enjoyed traveling. He and Frances (and often other friends and family) traveled the world together and were especially fond of cruises. He was an avid Bears fan, being a 50 year season ticket holder. He also loved connecting with people in every facet of his life and always was very sociable. The three people he was proudest of and cherished the most were his three grand children, who he would would brag on, spoil and take them on many family trips.
He is survived by his dear spouse Frances Andersen (nee Friedrichs); his loving children Suzanne Andersen and Andrew (Traci) Andersen, III; his grandchildren Courtney (Andrew) Wittek, Jessica Andersen and Andrew Andersen IV; and his siblings Barry (the late Nancy) Andersen and Nancy (Richard) Noble as well as many nieces and nephews.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings John Andersen and Lynn (Gary) Granzin.
A memorial visitation will take place from 2:00pm until 7:00pm with a Remembrance Service at 6:00pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. Arlington Heights, Illinois 60004.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley (habitatnfv.org), or please donate directly to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Arlington Heights on Rand Road, where Andy Jr. frequented and gave back to the community.
