Formerly of Arlington Heights and Palatine
Known fondly as “Grammy” to her ten grandchildren, Ann M. (Sullivan) Connolly entered eternal life on April 23, 2023 surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. Ann was born in Ashtabula, Ohio to Francis and Anna Sullivan. She attended St. Joseph Elementary School and St. John’s High School. She was a graduate of Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Education. Ann spent her professional career serving as a teacher to many students, beginning her vocation in Carmel, California before later moving to Illinois to marry Eugene J. Connolly, her loving husband of fifty years, and raise her three children. She returned to teaching and served school children faithfully for many years until she retired from Longfellow School, Buffalo Grove, in 2001.
First and foremost, Ann was a dedicated wife, loving mother and adoring grandmother. She treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She lived a life of faith, love, integrity, and compassion; always putting the needs of others before her own. She recognized and appreciated all of God’s blessings, and experienced inner peace and joy despite her failing health. Our words could never adequately capture the beautiful heart of our mother.
She is survived by her children Karen (Joe) McDermott, Maureen (Rob) Kowalski, and Sean (Megan) Connolly, her cherished grandchildren Tara, Colin, and Caroline McDermott; Ryan, Matthew, Andrew, and Colleen Ann Kowalski; Shea, Griffin, and Marygrace Connolly, her sister-in-law Barbara “Bonnie” (Peter) DeLotto and many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene J. Connolly, her parents, her sister Mary (Ben) Klepek, her brother Francis (Margie Devereux), and her nephew Tom Klepek.
