The world got a little quieter on November 14, 2025, when Annette Rasmussen—wife, mom, grandma, and friend—passed away in Arlington Heights, Illinois. She was born on April 1, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois to Carl and Gertrude DeVita (nee Corderman).
Before being married, Annette was an immensely proud alum of Lakeview High School, class of 1955. Annette spent 62 wonderful years married to Wayne Rasmussen. Together they raised their three children. In 1971, the Rasmussens settled in Park Ridge, Illinois, where Annette created a welcoming home filled with a steady stream of kids and their friends. When retirement rolled around, she and Wayne traded suburban life for peaceful lake living in Wautoma, Wisconsin. There, Annette treasured her mornings on the deck, enjoying the quiet beauty of the water and in the evenings playing pinochle with friends. In 2018, Annette and Wayne moved to Arlington Heights, Illinois to be closer to family.
Annette volunteered with both the Waushara County Historical Society and the Wautoma Library, cheerfully giving her time and energy to the community she came to love. Among family and friends, she was known for many things, but her famous peanut butter balls became a treasured tradition—and she insisted the recipe be passed along one last time.
Annette is survived by her husband, Wayne; her children Brad (Malissa Marsden), Darin (Bernadette), and Sally (Charlie Carman); her sister Jan Beckford; and her grandchildren Jessica, Jena, Daniel, Sean, Michael, Sinclair, Charlie, and Grace and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her sisters Carole Kellogg and Judy Carlson and her grandson Matthew, all of whom surely welcomed her with a hug, a cup of coffee and a warm pastry.
