Barbara Deschamps, nee Vanderveld, age 69, was called to her eternal resting place on June 20, 2024. She entered this world on May 14, 1955 in Oak Park, IL, born to Peter and Anna Vanderveld (nee Lanenga). She is survived by her husband Dale Deschamps, son David (Anne) Deschamps; daughter Nicole (Richard) Brown; mother Anna Vanderveld, sister Patricia Vanderveld, brother Glenn (Karen) Vanderveld, and sister-in-law Sue Vanderveld. She was a loving grandmother to Noah, William, Avery, John, Claire, Graham, and Brian. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Peter Vanderveld and brother, Paul Vanderveld. Barbara was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend to many.
Barbara grew up in Wheaton, IL and graduated salutatorian from Wheaton Academy. She later graduated from North Park University and went on to become a nurse to fulfill her role as a caring and compassionate person. She met her husband Dale and they were married on October 17, 1981. They raised their two children, David and Nicole, in Arlington Heights. They were active members of their community and church home, The Orchard. Barbara and Dale enjoyed traveling together, enjoying God's creation and soaking up the sunshine. During their 42 years married to each other they opened their home to many, sharing meals and laughs.
Barbara found joy and pleasure in nature, especially around the ocean and in Lake Geneva, WI where she spent her summers. She valued time with her family and friends, was always a listening ear, and encouraged many throughout her life. She was a beacon of sunshine and a pillar of support.
Barbara especially cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. She devoted much of her time and talents to helping raise her seven grandchildren. She had a strong presence in their lives, not missing any small or big moments. She consistently and selflessly poured out her time and love. She was often found sharing photos and stories, an obvious testament to the importance of family and the joy they brought her.
She leaves behind an irreplaceable void that is a testament to the joy she spread in her short 69 years here. She had an unshakable faith and most certainly heard, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Barbara has left a lasting impact and will be missed by many.
