Barbara A. Oshinski, 93, of Arlington Heights, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, at Northwest Community Hospital. Born February 3, 1933, in Chicago to Clarence and Estelle (nee Szafranski) Anderson, Barbara lived a life defined by faith, family, kindness, and devotion to those she loved.
After graduating from Bowen High School in Chicago in 1951, Barbara attended the University of Illinois where she studied psychology, and later worked for Prudential Insurance in downtown Chicago. On October 1, 1955, Barbara married the love of her life, William J. Oshinski, sharing 62 years of marriage until his passing. Following the birth of her first son, she embraced her role as a homemaker, dedicating herself to creating a warm and welcoming home for her family. She found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved.
A devout Catholic, Barbara's faith was an important part of her life. She was an avid reader who rarely passed up a good book. She enjoyed spending the afternoon at Arlington Park watching the horses run and placing a $2 bet on her favorite. Food was her love language, and she delighted in baking, sharing treats, and bringing family together around the table. Holidays were especially important to her, and she treasured the opportunity to gather with family and friends throughout the year.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Allen W. Oshinski and Paul C. Oshinski; her granddaughter, Adrienne (Nicholas) Held; and her great-granddaughters, Rachel and Hannah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Oshinski; her brother Cliff Anderson; and her parents.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 440 S. Mitchell Avenue, Arlington Heights. Interment will immediately follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
