Betty J. Buhrke (nee Schlichting) was born on April 14, 1931 in Melrose Park, IL to Edward and Eleanor (nee Krotz) Schlichting. She passed away Friday, May 11, 2018 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

Betty worked as a secretary for Methode Electronics and MM Electric Co.

She was a faithful member of the New Apostolic Church her entire life.

Her interests and/or hobbies included knitting, crocheting, cooking, shopping and camping in Door County, WI. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her sons Gary Buhrke and Ricky Buhrke; her grandchildren Derek Buhrke, Jason Buhrke, Kristin (Fiancé Mario Amodio) Buhrke and Kaitlin Buhrke. She was also survived by several nephews and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Buhrke and Marylin Schlichting.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years George E. Buhrke, her parents as well as her brother Edward Schlichting.

Visitation Tuesday, May 15, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road, (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.) Arlington Heights, IL 60004 and on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 from 9:30am until time of Funeral Service 10:30 am at New Apostolioc Church, 854 E. Algonquin Rd. Suite 100, Schaumburg, IL 60173. Interment will take place at Irving Park Cemetery, 7777 W. Irving Park Rd., Chicago at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the New Apostolic Church, Schaumburg - Sunday School Fund.
