For many years, Betty poured her energy and care into her work as the owner of Bettique Fashions, in Chicago a role she held until 1995. After retiring, she moved to Mesa, Arizona, embracing a new season of life with the same bright spirit that had long defined her.
In her later years, Betty and her second husband, Arthur, made the world larger through travel—journeying to many countries, seeking out new places and new experiences. Even in their late 70’s, their sense of adventure never dimmed, as shown by their willingness to take on white water rafting and other activities along the way.
Above all, Betty cherished time with family. She loved being with those closest to her and took special joy in visiting her many siblings. Her presence brought lightness and warmth—she could be wonderfully comical, consistently upbeat, and genuinely delighted by life. Her absence will be deeply felt, and her memory will remain a lasting comfort to those who loved her.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Sandra (William) Kehrer; grandson, William (Elsa) Kehrer; great-grandchildren, Jake, Tiffany, Brandon, Gavin, William, Emily; great-great-grandchild Ariana; along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Louis Smoron; second husband, Arthur Carlson; grandson, Louis Kehrer; her 10 siblings; and her parents.
Any memorial donations under Betty’s name may be made out to a charity of your choice.
