Betty Ruth Fowler

Betty Ruth Fowler, 93, of Arlington Heights, IL, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 26. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on April 4, 1931, to Louis and Bertha (Mindach) Dammrich, she was valedictorian of her graduating class at Warren Central High School and received a Bachelor of Music Education degree with honors from Indiana University. She married Bruce Byron Fowler on August 31, 1951.

Betty was a lifelong musician, devoted wife, and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In January of 1963 Betty became the organist at Lynhurst Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN, and her passion for the organ began. After moving to the Chicago area in 1974, Betty became the organist at the Arlington Heights Evangelical Free Church (now The Orchard) in 1976 where she remained until retirement in 2013. In addition to playing in worship services, special events and funerals at The Orchard, she also played approximately 350 weddings. At her retirement celebration, she stated “As I now look back, I can see the Lord’s hand in every part of our life and I am filled with awe at His goodness to us. He gave me a perfect companion, a wonderful family and absolute joy in serving Him, now 50 years, at the ‘King of Instruments.’”

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Bruce Fowler, sons Mark (Karen), Eric (Lisa) and Kurt (Heather), seven grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sister, Mary Ebbeler.

Family will be receiving guests on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. A funeral service will take place on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 10 AM at The Orchard Arlington Heights, 1330 N Douglas Ave, Arlington Heights 60004. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2501 E Euclid Ave, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
