Brent was the beloved husband of Sherry (nee Selby) for 54 wonderful years, with whom he shared a lifetime of love after meeting at Eastern Illinois University. Together they built a life centered on family, friendship, and service to others. He was the devoted father of Ben (Kate) Wilson and Anne (Ryan) Block, and the proud grandfather of Caroline Wilson, Brady Wilson, Cassie Block, and Nathan Block. Nothing brought Brent greater joy than spending time with his family and cheering on his grandchildren at their many activities and events.
Brent earned his undergraduate degree from Eastern Illinois University and advanced degrees from both Eastern Illinois University and the University of Illinois. Following his education, he proudly served his country after being drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he served for 13½ months.
Education and helping others were the cornerstones of Brent's professional life. He spent his entire career with Township High School District 214, beginning at Wheeling High School and retiring from Rolling Meadows High School as an Outreach Counselor. His passion for helping people continued long after retirement when he became a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor at Alexian Brothers, where he continued making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Outside of work, Brent found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He loved entertaining family and friends at his home, especially around the backyard pool, where many cherished memories were made. He and Sherry enjoyed traveling together and creating lasting memories on their vacations. Above all, Brent treasured every moment spent with his family, whose love and laughter were the greatest gifts of his life.
Brent will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, unwavering dedication to helping others, and deep love for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
