Carol Ann Coffman

Carol Ann Coffman (nee Langholf), 92, of Arlington Heights, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, with her children by her side. She lived a life rich in love and joyful moments with a steadfast faith in Christ.

Carol was born in Dixon, IL on February 19, 1933. She grew up on farms in the Winnebago area where she had a happy childhood and loved riding horses.

After graduating from Winnebago High School in 1951, she attended nursing school at Rockford Memorial Hospital graduating in 1954. That same year, she married Bill Coffman, the handsome Polo man she met two years prior on a blind date. Early in their marriage, Carol and Bill made their home in various places including Baltimore, MD, where Roger was born and Peoria, IL, where Lynne was born. In 1962, they settled down in Arlington Heights where Sandra and Carl were born.

For 31 years, Carol helped bring many babies into the world at Northwest Community Hospital in Labor and Delivery until her retirement. She was an active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church where she spent countless hours volunteering, singing in choir, meeting with her circle group, and in Bible study. She enjoyed playing cards and games weekly (a fierce competitor!), socializing with her Breakfast Club and Lafayette Ladies, as well as get-togethers with her nursing classmates. Known for her warm heart, caring spirit, and gifting her homemade caramels at Christmas, she was a true treasure to her many friends and family.

Carol is survived by her children Lynne (Patrick) McKiernan, Sandra (George) Ruppert, and Carl (Karen) Coffman; grandchildren Michael, William and Patrick McKiernan, Thomas and Daniel (Kaitlyn) Ruppert, and Gregory and Katherine Coffman; brother Eugene Langholf; brother-in-law David Fischer; and sister-in-law Jean Langholf; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Coffman; son Roger Coffman; grandson William Ruppert; parents Fred and Dorothy Langholf; siblings Elise (Roger Max) Fry, Arlene Fischer, Neil Langholf; and sister-in-law Arlene Langholf.

A memorial visitation for Carol will take place on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 1234 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL, at 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:30 AM. A luncheon reception will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Music Ministry in honor of Carol.
