Carol L. Wiemann (nee Lohrentz), 96, was born on February 19, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Carl and Mildred (nee Hakendorf) Lohrentz and died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
She was the beloved wife of over 70 years to the late Bud Wiemann; loving mother to Thomas (Catherine) Wiemann and Theodore (JoAnn) Wiemann; cherished grandmother to Kyle (Stefani) Wiemann, Kourtney (Robert) Phelan, Timothy Wiemann, and Carolyn Wiemann; treasured great grandmother to Jackson Wiemann, Emma Wiemann and Rory Phelan; dear sister to Carlton (Jan) Lohrentz; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband Bud, sister Shirley Puls, brother-in-law Bob Puls, and parents Carl and Mildred Lohrentz.
Carol was a 1948 graduate of Luther Institute in Chicago. Carol was a stay-at-home mother for her two sons when they were growing up. She then became the bookkeeper at First Baptist Church of Oak Park for 30 years. Once Carol and Bud retired, they spent many happy years playing golf, traveling and cruising with family and friends, and enjoying their grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s many sporting events and activities. She was famous for making special desserts including lamb cakes at Easter and her Jello mold for family parties.
Carol lived a long and faith-filled life having known 7 generations of her family. She was a lifelong Lutheran whose deep faith in Jesus carried her through life’s many trials,
including her husband’s illness and passing, as well as her own. Carol will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. There will be a church visitation on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1190 N. Hicks Rd., Palatine, IL 60067. The funeral service will start at 11:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow the service at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2501 E. Euclid Ave. Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
