

Carol Wolff was born December 28, 1924, in Webster City, Iowa, the first of four children to Lutheran minister Rev. Edward A. and Tena (Peterson) Piper. She died peacefully on March 28, 2023, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
Carol is survived by her only child, daughter Sheri Travlos and her husband Paul Travlos; grandson Michael Paul Travlos; her youngest brother Donald (Joan) Piper and by several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Robert D. Wolff; her sister Margaret (Piper) Doering, her husband Les and brother Rev. Edward A. Piper Jr., his wife Pat and by her parents.
Carol's early education was in Fairfield, Iowa and she graduated from Carthage College, a Lutheran college in Carthage, Ill. with majors in biology and music education.Carol taught vocal music initially then married Bob and had daughter Sheri. They moved to Huntington, West Virginia where Bob had accepted a position at Marshall Univ in the music education dept. Carol completed her MS in biology there and taught in varies schools in Huntington for 17 years.
While in West Virginia Carol, enjoyed playing golf and tennis, swam at the Y regularly, in a bird watching group, was an avid artist in both chalk drawing and jewelry making, sang in church choirs and participated in PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization) activities, as well as lovingly tending to her large garden of vegetables and flowers in the backyard. She was deeply concerned about the environment, humanitarian and educational issues and supported varies local and state organizations as a volunteer. Carol was also a Girl Scout leader for several years and enjoyed sharing her love for all outdoor activities including camping, hiking, leading songfests and teaching canoeing skills with the girls and other leaders.
After Bob's passing, Carol decided to move to Arlington Heights Luther Village's independent living in 2007, to be closer to her daughter, Sheri, son-in-law Paul and grandson, Michael. She remained extremely active while living there and enjoyed participating on many scheduled trips, golfing, swimming, wood working, walking outside, leading the choir, gardening, her artwork and having lunch with many friends she made.
A celebration of Carol's life will be held at a later date.
