Catherine Marie Romes

Catherine Marie Romes, 81, was born April 24, 1942, in Belleville, Illinois to Kermit and Margaret (nee Eckhardt) Dammrich. She died Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Lake Forest Place, in Lake Forest, Illinois.

Catherine's passion for education led her to pursue a bachelor's degree, and she dedicated over 30 years of her life as a Middle School Teacher for District 25. Throughout her career, Catherine touched the lives of countless students.

Catherine's greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved supporting and attending their activities no matter what city or state they took place. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for reading and was an active member of her book club. Her green thumb allowed her to find solace in her garden, surrounded by vibrant flowers. She also cherished spending time with her close friends, participating in her monthly club activities, and attending church at St. Ednas.

Her generous nature knew no bounds, as Catherine selflessly dedicated her time to caring for others and lending an empathetic ear to those in need. Her presence was a source of comfort and support for her family and friends during times of celebration and sorrow.

Catherine was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Gerald Romes. Together, they created a nurturing home for their children, Theresa (Robert) Schachner, John (Angela), and Brian (Jennifer) Romes. Catherine's love and support extended to her adoring grandchildren, Alexia, Madison, Brooke, Cole, Dylan, Michael and Nicole. She is also survived by her beloved siblings, James Dammrich, Mary (Joseph) Hook, Thom (Carol) Dammrich, John (Cathy) Dammrich, Joseph (Debbie) Dammrich, and Eileen (Kent) Decker

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, December 4, 2023, at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004 and from 9:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 am Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL for Mass at 10:00 AM. Interment following at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
