

Colleen Mary Reid-Demetre, 54, longtime resident of Arlington Heights, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on January 12, 2015, after a courageous six-year battle with ovarian cancer.
Colleen was born to her late parents, William Reid and Ann Norris Reid, in Kankakee, Illinois on April 29, 1960.
Colleen grew up in Downers Grove, Illinois, where she attended Downers Grove North High School. She earned her B.A. in history at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and her J.D. at University of Illinois College of Law. She was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. Colleen served as senior corporate counsel for Allstate Insurance Company for 27 years and upon retirement volunteered for several charitable organizations. A lifelong athlete and avid bicyclist, Colleen’s travels took her across North America and Europe.
Colleen is survived by her loving husband Christopher Demetre, with whom she shared many happy adventures. Cherished sibling of twin sister Kathleen Reid (John) Pizzo, brother Kevin Reid and sister Kerry Reid; much-loved aunt of Jackson and Mary Reid; dear sister-in-law of Lynda Reid; fond niece and adored cousin of many. She also leaves behind her beloved golden retriever, Lilly.
Colleen’s spirit and goodness will live on in all whose lives she touched.
Memorial visitation Saturday, January 17, 1:30-6 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights. Family and friends will gather for a memorial service in celebration of Colleen’s life on Sunday, January 18, 1-4 PM at Rob Roy Golf Club, 505 E. Camp McDonald Road, Prospect Heights.
