

David A. "Ozzie" Aldrich Of Arlington HeightsDavid A. "Ozzie" Aldrich, 81, was born on December 1, 1934, in Arlington Heights to Lester Aldrich and Marjorie (nee Heivilin) Aldrich. He passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016, at the Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines.David was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Marjorie, and by his brothers, Jack W. Aldrich and Charles E. Aldrich, Sr. He was also preceded in death by two sister-in-laws, Mary (Charles) Aldrich and Marilyn (Jack) Aldrich.David is survived by his sister-in-law, Margaret (Jack) Aldrich; nieces and nephews; Jay S. (Nancy) Aldrich, Charles E. (Dawn) Aldrich, Jr., Kevin (Lani) Aldrich, Sheila (Kevin) Scott, Niall Aldrich, Seanna Aldrich, Barbara Aldrich, Diane (Patrick) Penton, John Aldrich, James (Andrea) Aldrich, John Oest, Thomas Oest, Christina (Ken) Van der Werker, Phillip (Sarah) Oest, Mary Mootrey, Joanne (James) Silbernagel; Kathe (Fiance Philip Graf) Aldrich, and special friend Judy Wagner.David was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Europe during the early 1950"s. He was a 40 year veteran of the United States Postal Service, where he was an employee in Arlington Heights until his retirement in 1993. David was a member of First United Methodist Church in Arlington Heights. David was a dedicated member of the Arlington Heights Lions Club, where he volunteered many hours of community service, including distributing Lions Club candy, picking up donated used eye glasses, recruiting new members, and participating in club activities to benefit the blind and deaf. David was an avid philatelist, whose passion was his extensive stamp collection specializing in stamps from Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. He loved spending time with his family and many friends. David was kind and generous to all, and always willing to help in any way he could. For years he enjoyed a daily coffee ritual and "lively" morning discussions with his friends at a coffee shop in downtown Arlington Heights. He always looked forward to the monthly luncheons with the retired postal workers, including his nephew, Jay.Visitation Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Funeral Service 11:00 am Monday, January 18, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, 1903 East Euclid Avenue, Arlington Heights, IL 60004.
