I had the pleasure of working with Dave at HDR when he first graduated from U of I (maybe 1984), and the again when I joined Clark Dietz in 1995. Dave always brought humor to the office (at times rather corny but still a good laugh). He was a good engineer but even a better person. He will be missed.

I have such fond memories of Dave, beginning with when he introduced himself early one Saturday morning, at breakfast, freshman year at U of I. He loved to laugh and make those around him feel at ease. Many great times followed. I cherish those memories. I am saddened to hear of his passing. I have often noted in life that if you get something really good, it is gone much too soon. I envy you your Dear Father, Dave.
And should you ever need a professional harpist (wedding, anyone?) I am yours, gratis. Just do not make me shoehorn myself into the bridesmaid dress I wore to your parent's wedding, even the cats would snicker. Good night, Beloved Ones~ that was a delightful service and perfectly done.

My husband and Dave worked together for many years for the City of Park Ridge and always remained friends. We enjoyed his Friday after work visits on our deck. He was such a nice guy and always interesting to talk to. Our sincere condolences to Sarah, Lauren, Claudette and the entire family. You will all be in our thoughts and prayers.

Dave and I were good friends at Maine South. We saw Steve Martin at the Stadium in 1979, did a V-show skit together and were roommates at Illinois for 3 years. We even went bird watching once. Gonna miss you Dave.

I always left a conversation with Dave with a smile on my face. My heart goes out to Sarah and Lauren and the family.

Our thoughts are with the Ellstrand family. Dave touched many lives with his humor, kind words for everyone, and inspiration to try something beyond your comfort zone.
