David M. French

David M. French was born August 22, 1931 in Rockford, IL to Harold and Delia (nee Kelly) French. He died Tuesday, September 14, 2021 in Arlington Heights, IL.

Dave is survived by his wife of 64 years, M. Suzanne "Sue" (nee Schuckert) French; children Janine Foy, Paul (Kristi) French, Shawn (Beth) French, and Ann Kelly (Steve) Schmidt; his grandchildren Mollie, Brendan, and William (Alexandra Leonardo) French, Alexandra Schmidt, Andrew French, and James Foy; his sister-in-law Kathryn French; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandson, Jack French; siblings, Paul, Jack, Richard, Donald, and James French; and by his parents.

Dave was a gifted athlete from a young age and excelled in several sports. He played basketball at St. Louis University and Loyola (Chicago) University. He was an avid golfer, winning multiple tournaments and playing well into his 80s (while still beating his sons!) Dave had a long and successful career in Human Resources, working in multiple industries, most notably with Baxter Healthcare and Wisconsin Central Railroad. After retiring, Dave dedicated his time to supporting several charitable endeavors, including the St. Vincent DePaul Society and Mercy Hospital. A devoted husband, Dave and Sue loved spending time at their second home in Galena, enjoying the beauty and solitude of the area. Dave was happiest when his children and grandchildren were gathered together.

Visitation from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday September 24, 2021 at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Rd.), Arlington Heights, IL. Prayers 9:15 am Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Glueckert Funeral Home proceeding to Funeral Mass 10:00 am at his beloved, St. James Catholic Church, 831 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL, where he was an active parishioner for 50 years. Interment at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL.
