Born in Chicago on November 24, 1941 to Henry P. Marks and Stephanie W. Marks, he attended St. Viator's Grammar School and St. Patrick's High School, Class of 1959.
In 1960, Dennis started working at Signode Corporation serving a tool and diemakers apprenticeship and working in that capacity and others throughout his forty-one year career. After retiring, he worked ten years as a substitute student supervisor at Schaumburg High School.
Dennis and his children became very involved in the Twinbrook YMCA Parent/Child Programs . Dennis, known as Red Eye, ultimately worked part-time as the Indian Agent overseeing all Y-Indian Guides and Princesses, Trail Blazers and Y-US Girls programs. These were wonderful years full of Dennis' talent of campfire sing-a-longs and banjo music.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia (nee Pulcyn) and his three children and their spouses. Keith (Chrissy) Marks of Chicago, IL; Amy (Matthew) Ricks of Scottsdale, AZ; and Christopher (Kelly) Marks of Arlington Heights, IL. He is also survived by his brother, Henry E. Marks (Laura) of Miami, FL.
For the past thirty-plus years, Dennis, Pat, their children, and grandchildren, including John (Kate) Marks, Tim Marks, Hunter Ricks, Hannah (Hunter) Merritt, Charlie Marks, and Sadie Marks, were able to spend a lot of enjoyable time in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Initially at a cabin in Pelican Lake and more recently, a year round home in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Many good friends and memories were made in the Northwoods.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ascension Alexian Brothers Hospice Residence in Elk Grove Village for their exceptional care, thoughtfulness, and compassion during Dennis' last days.
