DJ was my neithbor here in Dallas. I met him on Oct 29, 2024, when he was laughing while telling me how he became covered in road rashes.  DJ set the standard, with his gentlemanly manners and ALL that happiness flowing out of him, for how we should treat one another. Let's all do that in honor of DJ.

I got to meet DJ only a couple of times when he joined Ethan for family events. Both times he left such an impression on me and my family. He knew his Maker and that showed. 

DJ, I celebrate that you are in the arms of Jesus. You chose right! You lived on earth with heaven in mind, our true home. In every sense you are resting and living in peace. What a beautiful journey the Lord granted you her on earth while you waited. 

My deepest condolences to DJs family. I cannot imagine your pain. Corrine, you and the family are in my prayers. May the God of comfort give you His peace.

Always filled with curiosity, spunk and tenacity. Never saw you with a frown, never saw you not in a crowd. Truly, the world has lost a bright light to all those around you.

DJ you filled our lives with your laughter and positive attitude. You always had a smile and never complained. Going to really miss seeing you around and you being a part of our lives. You have left a huge void in all our lives, which can never be filled. You were a delight and blessing to everyone around you and you touched countless lives in a short period. 

You served your country with honor, were a pillar of strength to your mom, a confidant and true ally to your friends.

I can't believe you're gone. It feels surreal, and the weight of this loss is almost too much to bear. You were more than a best friend; you were family. I can't find the right words to express how much I will miss your laughter, your kindness, and the way you always knew how to make everything better. The world feels emptier without you in it.

Thank you for all the memories we've shared. I will carry them with me forever, and I promise to keep you in my heart every single day. You’ve left an indelible mark on my life, and no matter how many years go by, you will never be forgotten.

Diondre, 
I remember meeting you for the first time at our high schools ‘walk your schedule.’ I don’t remember a moment that night where I was not laughing at your silly jokes and personality. I knew from that day on, you were someone I wanted to have in my life. Throughout all 4 years of high school, we had that sibling dynamic where we got under each other’s skin haha, but we were always inseparable and had so much love for each other. You were always there for me and always made me laugh. You are the funniest and most selfless person I know. 
After high school, our friendship grew into something more and you became the love of my life. Never have I experienced a love and connection like the one we shared. It was perfectly imperfect. We were young and it was our first real relationship. Long distance made it even harder, especially after you got deployed to Poland. But we made it work for the time being and I am forever thankful I have those memories to cherish. Part of me always hoped that if it was God’s will, we could have had a chance to try again.🤍 You taught me what it looks like to communicate in a healthy way and so many other things. Without even knowing it, you loved me the way I always needed and wanted to be loved. 
The amount of care and protectiveness you had for your loved ones was unmatched. You were always so strong in who you were and what you believed in, and I’ve always admired that about you. Your sense of humor stuck with me—I still find myself telling your jokes and making people laugh, and I’ll always give you the credit for it.
I’m thankful we got to catch up recently and share our memories together. I looked up to you in so many ways, and you helped me grow into the person I’ve become in countless ways as well. I wish I could talk to you one more time and give you one more hug. May you rest in the presence of the Lord.   I love you and I miss you. 🤍🙏🏼

DJ was my older son’s best friend, I called him my “adopted son” but when he would share parts of his life  I would tease him and tell him I want to return him coz he came with too much baggage and problems.  He became a part of our family, an older brother to my younger son Caleb who admired him.  Everytime he’d hear Caleb arguing with me he’d have him in a choke-hold and say “just say the word, I’ll beat him up for you”.  He had a tough exterior but had such a kind heart.  

He loved to give me a hard time when I gave Ethan haircuts or suggestions and bash me about how he’d given strict instructions to Ethan to go against my suggested hairstyles

Most people who knew DJ knew his love for bikes, a life of action- I came to know DJ as someone who accepted Christ as his savior and was starting to live for Christ.   He loved God and was on a quest to know more about Jesus.  He started with exploring and learning about other religions and eventually felt a deep conviction with being a Christ follower. He learned much through watching debates of You Tube and was a fan of Cliffe Knechtle and Sam Shamoun. 

DJ’s prayer: 
“Lately I've been praying a lot about finding good people and resources to help me become a good follower of Christ. I've also been praying about God pulling me from the things/people I'm not meant for and leading me towards the ones I am”

 “I pray everyday for God to make his way into the lives of nonbelievers, especially loved ones, and it can hurt seeing people reject God. We just have to trust in God and continue praying”

While I am grieved that I won’t see him on this side, I am overjoyed knowing he’s with Jesus whom he loved and served.  We will
miss him dearly!

Every single memory we made was one that I will cherish forever. You were one of the realest people I knew and you always kept it completely straight with me and everyone you knew, and I always respected you immensely for it. 

Knowing that I’ll never get to make more memories with you hurts so bad I can’t even describe it. But I hope you’re resting in eternal paradise, riding bikes all day long. Love you man.
