Dolores J. Ozimek

Dolores J. Ozimek of Arlington Heights, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at the age of 101. Dolores was born on June 12,1924, in Chicago and was the cherished daughter of Kenneth and Bernice Jankowski (nee Bulat). She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 64 years, Edwin Ozimek; dear siblings, Edwin Jankowski, Harry Jankowski, Alfred (Marion) Jankowski and Arthur Jankowski.

Dolores was the beloved mother of Steven (Susan) Ozimek, Christine (Mike) Olsen, Kenneth (Sandy) Ozimek and James Ozimek. Proud grandmother of Patrick (Laura) Ozimek, Timothy (Sarah) Ozimek, Hannah (Thomas Leonard) Ostermann, Benjamin (Liz) Ostermann, Lauren (Calvin) Kramer and Katie (Vic) Wight. Great-grandmother of Evelyn, Elizabeth, Caleb, Zachary, Jeremy, Sophia, Gianna, Leo and Ryan. Dolores is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In her early years Dolores was shaped by her experiences growing up in the neighborhood of Humboldt Park, Chicago. During the depression Dolores and her family moved to Gary, IN where she graduated from Tolleston High School. After a short stint of office work at the steel mills Dolores worked her way through nursing school in Chicago and was working as a Registered Nurse in the maternity ward when she met Edwin Ozimek who was a friend of a doctor at the hospital where she worked. They married in 1951 and started their family soon after. They lived in the Belmont/Central area of Chicago until 1968 when they moved to Arlington Heights. Dolores and Edwin travelled extensively throughout the world visiting six of the seven continents. Her final years were spent at Hearthstone Assisted Living at Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights, IL.

A visitation for Dolores will be held Monday, November 10, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church, 831 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. The service will follow at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, Palatine, IL.
