Mr. Lord was the choral director at Maine West while I was in high school. I have wonderful memories of Girl's Glee, Ensemble nights, musicals, concerts. He was a great teacher.

Dear Lord, Family, Was sad to learn that don passed away. He was an amazing teacher and man. Thoughts and prayers are with you always.

I have good memories of Mr. Lord as my choir director. He clearly wanted us to enjoy music. When I was a Freshman or Sophomore, he allowed us to spend one day a week singing popular music with guitar and encouraged us to harmonize. The last time I saw him he happened to attend a concert of the Northwest Choral Society when I sang with them. He came up to me and gave me a big hug! Although I'm sure this a sad time for many, I hope you will be encouraged by all of our good memories. May you feel God's comfort.

I learned so much from Mr Lord. I enjoyed my time in Concert Choir and Choraliers, musicals and Park Ridge Gilbert & Sullivan Society. I ran into him at one of Maine West's open houses and was so glad for that. He was a great teacher, my sympathies to the family and friends.

Dear Mr. Lord....thanks for your laughter, your brightness, your smile, thanks for putting up with Sue Levand and myself whilest we had THE BEST TIME in your class. We really did think we could sing and read music....we loved it, we tried. Thank you for your sense of humor when Sue and I had to stand in front of the class for our 'performance' singing, Jingle Bell Rock.(knowing that off to the side of us you were rockin' and snappin your fingers..no wonder people were giggling and smiling!). Thanks for being a great man. I remember you well. Dear Lord family, you were blessed with an angle on earth.

Remembering fondly your friendship with Bonnie and all on South Dunton....all those block parties and good times together. So very sorry to hear of Don's passing. With deepest sympathy to Hanna and all the family.

Dear Hanna and Lord Family,The last of the four Lord boys has left us and it is a milestone I was not looking forward to.But as so many students have written, Uncle Don (and his brothers) were a treasure and excellent teachers all, so they have left a massive part of their lives with us to protect and cherish. As a child, Uncle Don would tease me with out mercy. As I grew up nothing changed, except I got better at throwing it back at him! We laughed all the time, and I remember my brother Bennett reading an Ode he wrote for a Lakeside celebration that "Lord boys are so full of .....wit!" One highlight was touring Don and Hanna through my beloved Anza Borrego desert park near San Diego Don (and Hanna) were excellent students as we spent a happy day learning a land far different than Arlington.With Uncle Don's passing we have lost the last of the original Arp Language speakers, but I will do my best to keep the tradition alive.Love to Hanna for your years of loving and loyal care. I wish I could be there to hug you and say good bye.....

Mr, Lord was one of my high school teachers. After I left high school, he continued to keep in contact and got me involved with the Park Ridge Gilbert and Sullivan Society. I always admired Mr. Lord for his simple respect for others that always brought out the best in everyone he met. He certainly inspired me to be a better musician and a better person. The world is a not quieter place today with his passing. It is, rather, a much more beautiful sounding place for his having touched our lives with music and a unique gentle kind of love. I will miss him.
