OBITUARY

Dorothy K. Ryan

June 20, 1951 – September 2, 2025
Obituary of Dorothy K. Ryan
IN THE CARE OF

Glueckert Funeral Home

Dorothy “Dottie” Ryan, of Schaumburg, IL, passed away on September 2nd, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Patrick Kolometz, and her aunt, Dorothy “Nan” Gaffney, with whom she is now joyfully reunited.

Born June 20th, 1951, in Chicago, Dottie lived a life rich with love, laughter, and the joy of caring for others.

She will be remembered for her sharp wit, generous heart, and her love of scary movies - especially The Bad Seed. A voracious reader, she could finish a 500-page Stephen King novel in a single sitting, then immediately call to deliver her review. In her final months, she found comfort in rewatching ER and The Conners - no matter how much her family rolled their eyes.

Above all, Dottie cherished being “Gaga,” her proudest role as grandmother.

She is survived by her devoted husband of forty-seven years, Tim; her children, Kelly Teich (Matt) and Danny Ryan (Amanda); her adored grandchildren, Zoe, Phoebe, and Margot; and two occasionally well-behaved grand-dogs, Balki and Roy. Dottie also leaves behind an extended family of beloved brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Family, friends, colleagues, and loved ones are invited to her Celebration of Life on Thursday, September 18th from 3 - 7 pm at her daughter Kelly’s home in Arlington Heights (344 S. Beverly Lane).

Since the gathering space can’t accommodate additional flowers, please honor Dottie by treating your kids, grandkids, or loved ones to a little gift - something special just for them. And if the surprise gets spoiled before they open it, well, she’d be laughing right along with you.
