

Dottie (Dorothy) Mae Skierkiewicz, age 74, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026. She was born on December 27, 1951, in Chicago, IL where she lived a full life. Dottie attended Notre Dame High School for Girls and MacCormac College where she trained as a legal secretary. She dedicated much of her life to serving and helping others.
After meeting in high school and sharing their first date at her senior prom, Dottie shared 52 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Al Skierkiewicz. They created a beautiful family filled with many cherished memories.
She started her career as a legal secretary at a downtown law office before continuing her career as a secretary in local schools for more than 30 years. She was deeply involved in her community and other passions. Dottie was an avid crafter, volunteered with a local robotics team, was a past member of the choir at St. Edna’s, and served as a grief minister, helping guide many families through tough times. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren who brought endless joy to her life.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Alice (nee Czajka) and Eddie Boggs, and Walter Pelz and her sisters, Judy Gabucci and Laura Paycer.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Al; her children, Mark (Brandy) and Karen; her beloved grandchildren, Micah, Lucy, and Max; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a local robotics team in your area in Dottie’s memory.
The family will be receiving guests on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. A second visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM.
