Dorothy L Varchetto

Born June 27, 1922 in Chicago to the late Rocco and Lucy (nee Marchetta) Laurie. Dorothy married the late Sam Varchetto in 1947, and they were married for 51 years. They had three children: the late Anthony (Beth), Pamela (the late Ralph), and Richard (Janet); grandchildren Tiffany, Anthony, Nicholas, Rachael, Michael, Matthew, Lisa, and Gina; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy worked in accounting as a comptroller for many years. She was very involved in church and community organizations: Italian American War Vets, Ladies Auxiliary (local, state, and national president), St. James Woman’s Club (Woman of the Year), founder of the Over 50 Club, and a volunteer at North Chicago Veteran’s Hospital. She was a Eucharistic minister, and served in the Rosary Society and Altar Society.

A visitation for Dorothy will take place at Glueckert Funeral Home 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL, on Friday, January 17 from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Saturday, January 18 from 9:00 AM – 9:30 AM.

Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church, 820 N Arlington Heights Rd. Arlington Heights, IL, on Saturday, January 18 at 10:00 AM. Graveside Interment to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1400 S Wolf Rd., Hillside, IL.
