Edgar T. Wein

Of Arlington Heights, formerly of Des Plaines

Edgar T. Wein was born on April 10, 1922 in Shawneetown, Missouri to Rev. Edgar and Emily (nee Twellman) Wein. He died Monday, August 7, 2017 in Arlington Heights.

He served in the United States Army/Air Corps during WW II and received his Master’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Iowa in 1947. Edgar worked as an Assistant Comptroller for Commonwealth Edison in Chicago. He was a long-time member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights, where he served as Treasurer and currently a member of the Finance Committee. Edgar served on the Board of Lutheran Church Charities and the Board of United Way of Des Plaines. He also volunteered preparing tax returns for Senior Citizens of Des Plaines. Edgar loved to spend time with his family, and treasured many friends at Luther Village in Arlington Heights. He cheered on the Cubs, since 1947, and enjoyed the World Series Victory in 2016.

Edgar is survived by his daughters, Nancy (William) Gatfield and Linda (Walter) Polinski; and sister-in-law, Sharon Wein; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by wife, Merle (nee Brauer); whom he married on November 5, 1955 in Chicago; son, Robert Wein; his parents; siblings, Emilyn (Amos) Feeler, Wilma (Erwin) Schmidt and Vernon Wein; father-in-law and mother-in-law Rudolph and Rose Brauer.

Visitation August 11, 2017 from 9:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Service at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 W. Olive St., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Interment is at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines.
