Eileen Louisa Freitag

Eileen Louisa Freitag, aged 91, of Arlington Heights, passed peacefully on November 18, 2025. Born in England, she came to Canada in the late 1950s, where she met the love of her life, the late Henrik Freitag, in Toronto. Together, they moved to Chicago and raised their children in Arlington Heights.

Eileen was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who treasured her family above all else. She and her late husband, Henrik, shared a love of travel and made it a priority to visit loved ones in England, Denmark, Australia, and New Zealand. An avid reader, Eileen was actively involved in the Hearthstone book club in Arlington Heights, where she enjoyed the discussions and companionship of her fellow residents.

She is survived by her children Poul (Karen) Freitag and Erik (Susan) Freitag; grandchildren Crystal, Anna, John, Bridgette, Heidi, and Jakob; and great-granddaughter Stella Marie. She is also survived by her sister, Winnie Brady of New Zealand, and many nieces and nephews. Eileen is preceded in death by her daughter, LeeAnn Freitag, and her sister, Amy Cronin.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, from 10 AM until the time of service at 12 PM. Interment will follow at Mount Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to a charity of your choice.
