Eleanor "Elly" Simmons

Of Arlington Heights  

Eleanor “Elly” Simmons was born July 13, 1943 in Gary, IN to Edward and Blanche (nee Shultz) Warshal.  She passed away on December 9, 2017 of breast cancer. 

Born and raised in Gary, IN, and attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN for 3 years.  She worked as a payroll manager for both the Hyatt Corporation and Resurrection Healthcare, but her greatest joy was as a mother and grandmother, and she spent her retirement years devoted to her grandchildren. 

Eleanor is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert Simmons; her daughters Robyn (Gregory) Kurth and Julie Simmons; and by her grandchildren Alexander and Zell Kurth, Lyric and Fletcher Trapp; her sisters Dorothy (late Jack) Swike and Lori (Gerald) Ruschak and by many nieces and nephews.

Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights and Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 9:00 AM until the time of prayers at 9:45 AM at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Mass at 10:00 AM.  Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.

Donations in honor of Eleanor can be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation or the University of Notre Dame, where Eleanor and Robert proudly sent both of their daughters to college.
