Elena Rachel Griffin

Elena Rachel Griffin, (nee Bruno), formerly of Arlington Heights, was born on May 22, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to Albert and Antoinette (nee Broccolo) Bruno. She died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington, IllinoisElena was a Registered Nurse for Little Company of Mary Hospital in Chicago before retiring to raise her children and was a long time former member of the Arlington Heights Nurses Club. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, proud mother, wonderful grandmother and dear friend to many, who enjoyed her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren.Elena is survived by her sons Terrence J. (Deanna), Eugene P. (Natalie), Stephen F. (Sharon), Lawrence J. (Elizabeth) and Christopher P. (Vanessa) Griffin; her grandchildren Kevin, Courtney, Molly, Meghan, Timothy, Matthew, Caitlin, Catherine, Maeve and Owen Griffin; her brothers Albert V. Bruno, Dr. Thomas R. (Sharon) Bruno, Robert E. (Karen) Bruno and Anthony J. (Mary) Bruno; her sister-in-law Norine (Howard) Rozell and her brother-in-law Robert Houlihan; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Eugene; her parents and her sister-in-law Mary Houlihan and brother-in-law Gerald Griffin.Visitation from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois, and Monday, August 4, 2014 from 9:00 AM until time of funeral Mass at 10:00 am, at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N.
