Ernest Charles Breakenridge

Ernest C. Breakenridge was born October 18, 1951, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Melvin and Elizabeth (nee Gonyea) Breakenridge. He died surrounded by family, Monday, August 30, 2021, in Wheeling.

Mr. Breakenridge worked for Shure Bros. of Wheeling for over 20 years, then later for Penray also of Wheeling, for over 20 years, until his retirement in 2019. Ernie overall was an athletic minded individual. He loved to golf, bowl, play softball and fish. Ernie’s Heaven on Earth was fishing on the Winnipeg River in Canada. He loved to fish for Walleye, Bass and his favorite Northern Pike on fishing trips to Canada. He tried to make this trip twice a year. Ernie was a Civil War Buff and overall History enthusiast. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and was loved by all.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan (nee Hull) whom he married September 11, 1971, in Chicago; children, Jenny (Rob) Riley, Kim (Larry) Goto and Nicole (Pete) Maddaleni; grandchildren, Christina and Shawn Riley, Alex and Elizabeth Goto, Peter, Logan, and Maddalynn Maddaleni; siblings, Gerry (Sandy), Phillip (Elizabeth), Rick (Val), Larry, Greg, and Melanie Breakenridge; brother-in-law, Kenneth O’Sullivan; and many nieces and nephews; and dear friends.

Ernie was preceded into death by his parents, and sister Myrna O’Sullivan.

Visitation Friday, September 3, 2021, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (four blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. A Funeral Service will be held 10:30 am, Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
