Born on July 7, 1948, Ernie lived a life filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. She was the heart of her family — the one who held everyone close, made every gathering special, and never let a milestone pass without celebration or something sweet from her kitchen.
Ernie’s famous Pasta Sundays and love for baking were sources of great pride. Her homemade gravy and desserts will always be remembered and carried on for generations to come. She truly loved the joy her cooking brought to her family.
Preceded in death in 2016 by her husband John (Doc) of 46 years, she is survived by her children, Kris (Kerry) Persons and John (Stacy) Buckner; her beloved grandchildren, Nicholas and Joey Buckner, and Jack and Charlotte Persons; her partner, Jim Dvojack; and her brother, John Vinci. She was also a cherished great-aunt to many.
Her loss leaves an unfillable space, but also countless happy memories of her love, humor, and the family dinners and events she made unforgettable. She was a mom who was “always there” — devoted, steady, and happiest when she was either on a beach or surrounded by her family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Open visitation will be from 11:00 to 1:00, followed by a short service to share memories from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
