Florence Marie Emmerson, age 91, of Arlington Heights passed away on August 27, 2026, at The Moorings of Arlington Heights. Florence was born on February 25th, 1935, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, the daughter of Dorothea and James.
Florence is survived by her beloved husband, Richard (Dick); her sister, Sharon; her children, Bob, Mike, Jim, and Paul; her grandchildren, Jake, Kait, Shannon, Sarah, Michelle, Nicole, and Joey; her great-grandchildren, Donny and James.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Ann, and her brother, Jim.
She married the love and light of her life Richard, and they were together for 68 loving years. After graduating secretarial school, traveling the world, raising four boys that kept her on her toes, and quietly watching and smiling when the family gathered for special occasions, her life was full of adventure and love.
Florence and Richard spent their mornings drinking coffee, sharing her favorite blueberry yogurt or sneaking a cookie from the freezer, and their evenings reading or watching all-day basketball during March Madness. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy; watching them grow, succeed, and make a path of their own.
Throughout it all, Florence will always be by Richard’s side, in her favorite chair next to his, holding hands in every lifetime.
A visitation for Florence will be held on Wednesday September 2, 2026 from 11:30am until 1:30 pm at the Lauterburg-Oehler Funeral Home (2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights, IL 60004). A funeral service for Florence will immediately follow the visitation at the funeral Home at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Florence's memory to the St. Jude's Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
