Francis Kahanic

Francis Kahanic was born August 21, 1931, in Johnson City, NY to Charles and Anna (nee Pandich) Kahanic. He passed away August 23, 2015, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.Francis graduated from Union College in Schenectady, NY with a bachelor"s degree in Electrical Engineering. He also received an MBA degree from Northwestern University. He was employed as an electrical engineer for ATT/ Teletype in Skokie until his retirement in 1987. He then worked as a consultant for Abbott Labs.Francis enjoyed reading and playing cards, especially bridge. He loved to travel and visit children, grandchildren and other relatives.Francis is survived by: his wife Lois Kahanic; his children Stephen (Laura) Kahanic, Ruth (Michael) Mudrow and Thomas Kahanic; his grandchildren Jennifer (Zachary), Sarah, Elisabeth, Mary, Alexander, Emily, Alvin, Liana, Kayla and Liam.Francis was preceded in death by his son David Kahanic, his brother William Kahanic, and by his parents.Visitation will be at St Peter Lutheran Church of Arlington Heights on Friday, August 28, 2015, beginning at 9:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. The church is located at 111 W. Olive St., Arlington Heights, IL. Interment will be at Elm Lawn Cemetery, Elmhurst, IL.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church of Arlington Heights or to your favorite charity.
