Frederick Arvin Welstead

Frederick Arvin Welstead, a beloved father, husband, and Air Force veteran, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2024, at Advocate Condell Hospital in Mundelein, IL. He was born on March 10, 1933, in Napoleon, OH. Frederick lived a full and fulfilling life, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.

Following his passion for photography, Frederick pursued a career as a dedicated photographer. Through his lens, Frederick captured the beauty in the world around him, preserving precious moments for families and highlighting products and services for his clients in industry.

In addition to his career in photography, Frederick served his country with honor as a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Rising to the rank of A/1C, he dutifully carried out his tour of duties, contributing to the defense and security of his beloved nation.

While Frederick was committed to his work, his true devotion lay in his family. He was a caring and supportive husband to Phyllis, who predeceased him, and a loving father to his two sons, Michael and David Welstead.

Outside of his profession and familial role, Frederick found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep passion for working on cars, marveling in their intricate mechanics and restoring them to their former glory. He also found fulfillment in his involvement in the St. Paul United Church of Christ community, where he faithfully worshiped, and as he contributed his time as a crossing guard for the city of Barrington.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm, Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, Illinois. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Frederick's life will be held 1:00 pm, Sunday, February 25, 2024 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 144 E. Palatine Road in Palatine. Committal with Honors will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois. Please meet at funeral staging area by 1:45 pm.
