Gabrielle “Gabby” Ives, 18 of Arlington Heights passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Gabby was the cherished daughter of Robert “RV” and Sarah Ives and loving sister of Ali and Madi Ives.

Gabby recently finished her freshman year at the University of Illinois where she was a student in the College of Business, a member of Alpha Phi sorority and the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity. She was a 2016 graduate of Prospect High School where she was a member of Prospect High School’s Orchesis, Poms, and Competitive Dance Team. She loved her friends from Arlington Heights and Mt. Prospect where she attended Dryden Elementary, South Middle School, and Prospect High School, danced at McDonald Dance, and played soccer for Arlington Aces.

Youngest of three girls, Gabby admired and loved her two older sisters Ali, 26 and Madi, 23. The bond between these three was strong and will endure forever in memories, traditions and shared tattoos. They shared their love of family travels, spa nights, trashy reality tv, and of course, cuddling with their dog Kaya.

Gabby taught us all how to smile, laugh and love while living with the tremendous burden of Cystic Fibrosis (CF). She worked tirelessly to maintain her health, never complaining and reluctant to reveal her struggles, instead choosing to care for others, be joyful, live with elegance and laugh. She will always be remembered for her amazing smile, dimples, sense of humor and magical ability to make you feel special.

While Gabby did not let CF define her, she always felt the need to give back. She was a volunteer for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – speaking to large audiences about living with CF and recruiting friends for her Gabby’s Guardians and Ali’s Angels walkathon teams. Gabby also participated in several research studies, hoping to play a part in finding a cure for CF.

Not surprisingly, Gabby had a very special relationship with her doctor and caregivers. Their mutual affection was forged through years of office visits, hospital stays, and endless counseling. Affectionate negotiations were often made, and in the end Gabby always found a way to thank them for their care.

During her short life, Gabby touched many people in so many ways. Please always remember Gabby and spread her smile, strength and courage throughout your lives.

Gabby was the cherished daughter of Robert “RV” and Sarah Ives; loving sister of Ali and Madi Ives; dear granddaughter of Bob (Mary) Ives, Linda (late Gary) Burke and Margot (late Ken) Eddy; fond niece of Robin Ives (Ken) Moncrief, Dave (Andrea) Fossier, Jennifer (Zak) Autian, Margot Augustin, Nora (Philippe) Feune de Colombi, Bo (Susie) Wilson, John (Gloria) Eddy and Chad (Amy) Eddy and dear cousin of many.

Visitation will be Monday, June 26, 2017 from 3-8 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights and Tuesday, June 27 at First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, 302 N. Dunton Street, Arlington Heights from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Gabby Ives Memorial Fund, c/o Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home.

Gabby, we were never close friends, but we talked a lot in class and talking to you always brightened my day. You always let me share your book in math because I refused to carry it with me. So thank you Gabby for always bringing light to my day. Hope you're enjoying your time up with the angels.
