He died January 8, 2015 in Arlington Heights.Gary worked as a brick layer and was a mason contractor. He retired after working 45 years for Brick Layers Local 21. He enjoyed spending time at his lake house and loved being with and spoiling his grandchildren. He loved working with his hands and building projects. Gary was always willing to lend a hand, tools, equipment, and "advice" to anyone who needed it.Gary is survived by his spouse of 42 years, Karen (nee Krisor) Nelson; his children, Amy (Kevin) DeLuca, Erik (Christie) Nelson, and Kevin (Jill) Nelson; his grandchildren, Dominick, Sadie Mae, Avery, Kolton, Declan, and Evalie; and his siblings, Linda (Tom) McKillop, Don (Pat) Nelson, Diane (Lou) Schaefer, and Darlene Nelson.He was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation from 3 pm until 8 pm, Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights.
