Geoffrey D. Langford James

Geoffrey D. Langford James, 95, of Arlington Heights, IL was born on July 8, 1930, in London to the late Samuel Langford James and the late Phyllis Margaret Daisy (nee Herbert) James and died on December 23, 2025. He will be dearly missed.

Geoffrey was the beloved husband for 73 wonderful years to Janice (nee Rutty) James; loving father to Clive (Jennifer) Geoffrey James; dear grandfather to Collin Giles James; and fond brother to Beryl Yvonne Tilbury.

Geoffrey served in the British Army from 1946 to 1962, initially in the Welch Regiment and subsequently in the Coldstream Guards, attaining the position of principal clarinet.

In 1963, he relocated to the United States, eventually settling in Chicago. For the next 11 years, he worked for Cartan Travel as manager of the foreign department, covering most of Europe, Russia, and Central and South America. He continued his career at Travel Plans International, managing the tour development division until his retirement in 1996.

A memorial gathering for Geoffrey will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
