George P. Mahony

George P. Mahony, 83, of Arlington Heights, was born on December 11, 1942, to the late Max and Elizabeth (nee Radcliffe) Hamlin, and passed away on September 06, 2026, with his wife Cheryl at his side.

George was the beloved husband to Cheryl (nee Jorgensen) Mahony; loving brother to Kathy Johnson, Erin Mahony, Dennis Mahony, Jeffrey Hamlin, and the late Michael Hamlin; loving brother-in-law to JoAnne (William) Bischof; fond uncle to Timothy Bischof, Christopher Bischof, Andrew Bischof, Scott Johnson, Michael Johnson, Kristin Mahony, Katie Rolnick, and Zachary, Alex, Maddie, Ava, Evan, Elle, and Emma Bischof; and adored dog dad to Cooper, Laptop, late Duchess, late Carley, and the late Nuffy.

From 1964-1966 George proudly served in the Army as a medical corpsmen/combat medic in Vietnam. Upon his return home George completed schooling at Northwestern Memorial Hospital becoming the first EMI/CT technician at Northwestern. He retired from Northwestern after a stellar career in 2005.

George was an avid nature enthusiast, fisherman, dog/animal lover, gardener and a true gentleman in every sense. He will be dearly missed by all.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004. On the following day we will meet at St. James Catholic Church, 820 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, IL 60004, for the funeral mass starting at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
