Gertrude C. Ivory, 91, lived more than half of her life in Arlington Heights. Gertrude was born December 2, 1929 in St. Paul, MN to John and Gertrude (Grell) Costello and passed away July 26, 2021. She was a graduate of the College of St. Catherine and went on to become a college librarian. She was the beloved wife of John E. Ivory; loving mother of Mary (late Christopher) Ivory-Coulomb, Gert R. Ivory (Doug Goedken), and John J. Ivory; cherished grandmother of Benjamin and Annie Coulomb; dear sister of Mary (Edwin) Nakasone, Richard (Christine) Costello, and sister-in-law to Bernard Schwartzbauer. She was preceded in death by her siblings John (Virginia) Costello and Eileen Schwartzbauer. She loved being a part of book clubs, bridge clubs, choirs, and Hands All Around – quilting group. Her passions were needlework, cooking, singing, and reading. Nothing brought a smile to her face quite like spending time with her family. Memorial visitation will be Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 10:00AM with the Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00AM at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, 440 S. Mitchell Avenue, Arlington Heights.
