

Glenn G. HarrisOf Arlington HeightsGlenn G. Harris was born on March 24, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan to Bucky and Mary (nee Thompson) Harris. He died Friday, January 30, 2015 at his residence in Arlington Heights.Glenn served in the United States Army and earned a Purple Heart during the Korean Conflict. He worked as the Department Chair of Applied Technology for District 211. Glenn was a long-time member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Palatine. He was an avid photographer and loved to vacation in Door County, Wisconsin. Glenn loved to spend time with his family, friends, his "Moorings" neighbors, and was loved by all.Glenn is survived by his children, Ronald (Rose) Harris and Patricia (Thomas) Henkels; grandchildren, Peter Henkels, Marcus Harris, Jesse Henkels and Nicole Harris; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and sister-in-law Barbara Harris.He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley (nee Lyons) whom he married on August 21, 1954 in Highland Park; his parents; and siblings Cynthia Wendt and Fred Harris.Visitation Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Road), Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Funeral Service 11:00 am Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 144 East Palatine Road, Palatine, IL 60067.
