

Born on June 17, 1941, in Ontario, Canada, Glenn was the cherished son of the late Wilfred and Ruth Riley. He was also preceded in death, by his twin brother, Ross Riley who passed in February 2026.
Glenn is survived by his beloved partner of 35 years, Claudette Sonja Krueger. He was a loving father to Shaun Riley and a devoted stepfather to Erika Krueger, Christopher Krueger (Joy Thull), and Tricia Sales. He was a proud and cherished step-grandfather to Noelle Krueger, Ayden Krueger, Alex Hoffman, and Kaeden Jurcak, and an adoring great-grandfather, affectionately known as “Opa,” to Amaya Rodriguez, who brought him immense joy in his later years.
An accomplished professional, Glenn earned his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada. Shortly thereafter, he began his career with Chicago Bridge & Iron (CB&I) in the Chicagoland area. As a Professional Engineer (P.E.), Glenn devoted an extraordinary 61 years to the company, retiring only recently in January 2026. His commitment, expertise, and work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues throughout his long and distinguished career. Glenn’s colleagues affectionately referred to him as a “legendary engineer.”
In his younger years, Glenn enjoyed playing ice hockey and tennis. His work and personal travels took him around the world, and he especially treasured vacationing with Sonja and spending time with dear family and friends. A longtime congregant of Willow Creek Community Church, Glenn faithfully volunteered for many years, serving with the auditorium cleaning team, the Care Center, and various seed-packing events.
Family was at the center of Glenn’s life. He found great happiness in spending time with loved ones, enjoying dinners out, attending concerts at Ravinia and local park venues, taking pleasure in going to the movies with his son Shaun, and cheering on his grandchildren at their activities, events and life accomplishments. Most recently, he delighted in every moment spent with his great-granddaughter, Amaya, whose laughter and energy brought him endless joy.
Glenn will be remembered for his kindness, humility, faith, dedication to family and friends, and unwavering commitment to helping others. He enjoyed sharing and teaching others his wisdom in life, specifically in finance and business knowledge. His gentle spirit, quirky sense of humor, and steadfast presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Prayers and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A private family procession will follow to St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine, Illinois, where interment will take place.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Glenn’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
