Gregory S. Gilbert

Gregory S. Gilbert, aged 69, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service. Born on April 6, 1956, in Sioux Falls, SD, Gregory was the son of the late James and Catherine Gilbert.

Gregory's life was marked by devotion—to his family, his community, and his country. He was the loving husband of Jodi Gilbert (nee Deacon) for an inspiring 37 years. Gregory was the dear father of Alicia (Peter) Piatkowski, Samantha (Juan Cardenas) Gilbert, and Jaclyn Gilbert. His role as a father was one he treasured deeply.

One of Gregory's most cherished titles was that of 'Papa'. He took immense pride in his grandchildren Kaden, Eliana, Rafael, Myles, Miguel, Dylan, Noelia, Tyler, and Anayeli. His face would light up with joy with their laughter. Gregory was a brother to six siblings, and he is fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

For 23 years, Gregory served as a police officer in Leland, IL. His dedication to the force was second only to his family. He approached his work with a sense of duty and honor that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the community he protected.

Above all, Gregory was known for his ability to help raise his grandchildren. This was a role he embraced wholeheartedly, offering unconditional love.

His warm spirit and generous heart left a lasting impact on everyone he met. As we say farewell to this remarkable man, we take comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the family he adored. Gregory's memory will be forever cherished, and his presence sorely missed.

A memorial visitation for Gregory will be held Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. With the Army Military Honors service starting at 2:00 PM. Private interment will take place at a later date.
