Bernie was born on March 22nd, 1937, in Davenport Iowa, the son of the late Harold Bernard Olson Sr and Dorothy Olson (nee Willie).
After high school Bernie served in the National Guard and two years in the Army. He was stationed at Nike Ajax Battalion in Caribou, Maine.
After the Army, Bernie became a draftsman in the Manufacturing Industry – He worked that for many years. He then went on to manage the Tool Rental Department for Home Depot in Randhurst Mall and retired in 2008 to enjoy time with his family.
Bernie was a an Usher at St Alphonsus Liguori Parish in Prospect Heights and a longtime Prospect Heights Parks Commissioner.
Bernie was an avid woodworker, and he enjoyed golf, fishing and being outdoors.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn Olson (Thomas) of 62 years and his daughter Jennifer (Jerry Sredl) and his sister Margaret Nelson.
A Church Visitation will be held at St. Alphonsus Liguori Church on Friday October 10 at 10:00 am and followed by a Mass. Burial will follow at St Adalberts Cemetery in Niles.
