Harriet Ann Schwake

Of Long Grove

Harriet Ann Schwake was born January 29, 1922 in Des Plaines to Fred and Ida (Willig) Lindemann. She died Wednesday, November 14, 2018 in Long Grove.

Mrs. Schwake and her husband, Robert owned and operated Schwake Stone Company in Des Plaines for 71 years. Harriet was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights for over 60 years and also a member St. Peter’s Mother’s Club. She loved gardening, traveling, shelling, swimming and dancing. Harriet loved to spend time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren, and was loved by all.

She is survived by her children; Barbara (Gary) Grom; Carole (Spencer) Hodgson and Donna (David) McNulty; grandchildren, Shelley (Matthew) Kirby; Stacy (the late Stephen) Stern, Bryan Grom, David Grom, Robert (Laura) McNulty and Casandra McNulty; great-grandchildren, Jordan Kirby, Caroline Kirby, John Kirby, Sawyer Stern and Sayla Stern; and many nieces and nephews.

Harriet was preceded into death by her husband Robert, whom she married November 8, 1943 in Des Plaines; her parents; siblings, Irene (Ferd) Arndt, Mabel (Ray) Hammerl, Esther (Roy) Hammerl and Raymond (Marion) Lindemann.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2018 from 9:00 am until the 11:00 Funeral Service at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 111 West Olive Street, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Entombment is private.
