Helen L. ArmstrongOf Arlington HeightsHelen L. Armstrong was born June 24, 1923 in McKeesport, PA to Harry C. and Corinne (nee Davies) Clewer. She died January 15, 2015 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.She received a BA degree from Chatham College in Pittsburgh, PA, and a master"s degree from Concordia University in River Forest. Helen was a teacher for 29 years at John Muir and Anne Sullivan schools in Prospect Heights School District 23, retiring in 1994. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington Heights, and a Sunday School teacher for many years.Helen is survived by her daughter Leslie Ann (David) Spencer of Arlington Heights; her granddaughters Christine (Erik) Johns of Chicago, Laura (Brian) Emerick of St. Cloud, MN and Katie Spencer of Arlington Heights; her great granddaughter Elyse Emerick and by her brother, Rev. Harry D. (Florence) Clewer of Nashville, TN.Helen is preceded in death by her husband George C. Armstrong whom she married on October 18, 1946 and by her parents.Visitation will Monday, January 19, 2015 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM at St. John the Beloved Chapel at the Lutheran Home, 800 W.
