I was so sorry to run across the obituary for June.  She was my supervising teacher at El Sierra School back in 1973.    She was kind and helpful to me in my student teaching.  I remember her fondness for her classroom pets.  I was honored to become her teacher’s aid following my graduation from North Central College, which led to my first official teaching position at El Sierra.  My sincere condolences to her family.

I first met June when we served together on the Mundelein College Alumnae Board and, even to this day, I can remember how her smile lit up a room.  My deep condolences to June's dear friends and family; she spoke of you often and with love. 

I met June when we were both substitute teachers at Rolling Meadows High School back in the 1980s. She was always friendly, helpful, and glad to see me.    I think the last time I saw her was a RMHS and she invited me to join her for lunch in the math department. I could always see that June was well liked by the teachers, office staff, and students. I also became her friend, did some fun things with her, and remember her quick, charming smile, Irish wit, her love for her family and grandchildren, and her lovely 70th birthday party at La Tasca. On behalf of the Mundelein College Alumnae Board, I extend our sympathy on June's passing. She will be sorely missed. June always spoke highly of her children and their families. At Board meetings, she would pull out her cell phone to show us photo's of her grandchildren. Joe was a special person in her life and was by her side at all the Mundelein College alumnae events. June was quite adventurous. She would sometimes hop the el after our Board meeting and head downtown. June would explore museums, attend theatre performances, or meet a friend. June loved to travel and was more than happy to share photo's and stories from her trips. June loved life. June will not be forgotten. I am saddened by this loss.  June was uplifting, friendly, positive, funny and very engaging.  She was always smiling and willing to volunteer and help out.  Whenever I saw her she would be beaming with joy telling me about her grandchildren.  We went to a Sox game and she told me about her passion for this team and how she would take the train and go by herself if she couldn’t find someone to go with her.  Even when told that she was going to need surgery she was positive.   A tremendous loss.

June and I graduated from Mundelein College but in different years. I first met June in 2012 when we shared the same Loyola bus to Dubuque Iowa to visit the BVM’s at their Motherhouse.  I was with my 12-year-old daughter Reah sitting behind June and we talked all the way.  We became friends instantly. We served together on the Mundelein College and Gannon Scholar Board where she had served for over a decade. She passed her position to me as a secretary when she was pushed up to Vice President.  June made my life more interesting and busy she will be missed by a large community.

Dear Mary and Larry- I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I can still remember that day when she took us, Mary, on a driving tour of Oak Park to see Frank Lloyd Wright homes. I will never forget her cheery voice as she shared her knowledge of architecture intermixed with endearing stories of your grandfather and playful banter with you. So very sorry to hear of your mother’s passing ...She was for sure one special, kind lady. Through the past several years I have ran into a couple of times and enjoyed talking with her, she always had insightful things to say and share. She  for sure lived a fulfilled life.
