Helmuth Richard Kaiser

Helmuth was born to Otto and Elisabeth (Sumper) Kaiser on April 8, 1932, in Rochester, New York. The family moved to Chicago, Illinois where Helmuth grew up and graduated from Lane Tech High School. In the early 1950’s he served in the United States Army in Germany. He began working at Ickes-Braun Greenhouses (IBG) sweeping floors and worked his way up to become the Vice President of the company where he worked for 36 years. In his retirement years, he started Acrotek, a glass installation business for Shower Doors, Mirrors and Skylights with his youngest son, Kurt.

Helmuth accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and looked forward to going to heaven to be with Jesus. All his life he faithfully served Jesus and was actively involved in the local church as an elder and mentor to many young people. He genuinely loved people and took every opportunity to gather and be with others.

Helmuth was a dedicated husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was the beloved husband of Margaret Imig for 68 years; the loving father of his 5 children; Heidi, Gretchen (Ed) Garza, Nate, Neil (Debbie) and Kurt (Jacki), his 9 grandchildren; Erika (Scott) Priebe, Alison (Michael) Wicker, Eddy Garza, Lisie (Edward) Gainsborough, Hannah Kaiser, Alisa (Braxton) West, Grace, Aaliyah and Ella Kaiser; his 9 great-grandchildren; Aubrey, Tyler, Mason, Phoebe, Emma, Gabie, Marzy, Jack, Selah and one more on the way. Helmuth was the brother of Sigrid (Gerhard) Schultz, Kurt (Patricia), Martin (Anita), Gerhard (Lydia) and an uncle to many nieces, nephews, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, his older sister, Sigrid, his brother, Kurt and his eldest daughter, Heidi.

Memorial Visitation will be Friday, May 29, 2026, from 10am until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 11am at the Lombard Gospel Chapel, 369 N. Stewart Avenue, Lombard, IL 60148. Interment will be private.
