Penny was born on November 9, 1934, in Charleston, West Virginia, to Henry and Mary Christine (née Jones) Markham. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved.
Penny built her career at Ekco Products and later in the accounting department at Wickes Furniture, both in Wheeling, and as a senior accountant for Underwriters Laboratories in Northbrook. In retirement, she embraced life to the fullest—cherishing family gatherings, traveling, and attending bluegrass festivals with her beloved husband of 59 years, Joseph. Penny had a deep appreciation for her friendships and held those connections close to her heart.
She is survived by her children, Lenore Zanello (Don Williams), Joyce (Phillip) Dahlin, Patricia (Steve) Harding, and Desiree (Daniel) Tiberi; her grandchildren Kristine (Tom) Blitek, Tim and Steven Dahlin, Krystal, Joe, and Keith (Cassie) Curtis, Danielle (Scott) Forton, Danica (Andrew) Forsyth, Anthony (Kimberly) Tiberi, Daniel Jr., Andrew, and Dominic Tiberi; and eight cherished great-grandchildren.
Penny is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Myers; her parents; her son, Thomas Barris; and her brothers, Bill and Jack Markham Freeman.
A graveside interment service will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2501 E. Euclid Ave., Arlington Heights.
