Henryk SalweckiOf Arlington HeightsHenryk Salwecki was born on October 30, 1928, in Poland to Jan and Stanistawa (nee Sitko) Salwecki. He died Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at JourneyCare at Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights.Mr. Salwecki trained and worked as a tailor in Poland many years before continuing his trade with the Benjamin Clothing Company in Chicago before retiring. Henryk is survived by his spouse of 65 years, Irena (nee Gajewska) Salwecka; his children Ewa (Bohdan) Gnyra, and Beniamin (Elzbieta) Salwecki; his grandchildren, Michael Gnyra, Ewelina (Arturo) Martinez, and Kamila Salwecka; and his great-grandchildren Abigail, Emily, and Nicole.In his late years, Henryk especially enjoyed bike riding, sport watching. He was devoted to his family, extended family in Poland, he loved spending time with his grand-granddaughters, and was loved by all. He will be missed dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and his two brothers. A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, July 6, 2020, at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 440 S. Mitchell Ave., Arlington Heights. Interment St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.
