Hiltrude "Trudy" Seitz (nee Schneider), 90, of Arlington Heights, passed away peacefully on November 17. She was born on December 15, 1931 in Katzwinkel (Sieg), Germany to Paul and Magdalene (nee Jung) Schneider.
Trudy came to America in 1950 and lived in Chicago with her dear aunt, Elsie Schneider, a member of the Chicago bakery community. Trudy worked at Anhilger's bakery during the day and studied English and prepared for her American citizenship test in the evenings. Trudy enjoyed being in the choir and dancing at the Germania Club in Chicago, and it was there that she met the love of her life, her late husband Arthur; they were married on May 30, 1959 at St. James Catholic Church in Arlington Heights. They shared a beautiful marriage for 62 years.
Trudy and Art were longtime Arlington Heights residents and raised their three children there. Trudy worked for School District 214 for many years, first in the cafeteria at Arlington, and later at Rolling Meadows High School; she cherished her interactions with the students and teachers. After retiring, Trudy and Art traveled the world, often accompanied by Trudy's sister Margot and their dear friend Alfred. Trudy will be remembered for her cheerfulness, friendliness, her dedication to her family, and her amazing German cooking.
Hiltrude is survived by her children Rosemarie (John) Wilton, Steven (Evelyn) Seitz, and Karen (Curtis) Willmore; her three granddaughters Sophia, Grace and Lorelei; her sister Margot (dear friend Alfred Kosyra) Schneider and her brother Dieter (Mary) Schneider.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Seitz, her parents, her brother Gerhard Schneider and her sister Rosemarie Hofmann.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church, 440 South Mitchell Avenue, Arlington Heights, IL 60005. Interment following at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, Ill.
