Ilene C. Schmidt, 93, resident at St Joseph Village in Chicago, was born October 22, 1930 in Milwaukee to the late Paul and Alice (nee Grant) Popp and passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024. Ilene was the beloved wife of the late Wilfred “Butch” Schmidt; loving mother of Cathy (James) Walz, Kenneth (Julie) Schmidt, Gary (Deana) Schmidt, Mark (Mary Beth) Schmidt, the late Ronald Schmidt, Michael Schmidt, and James (Jayvee Pichay) Schmidt. Close family friend of Debbie Schmidt. Cherished grandmother of Katherine (Roderick “Jack” Taylor) Walz, Elizabeth Walz, Rebecca (Pablo Ordóñez) Walz, Kristina (Vernon Givens) Walz, Jennelle (Elizabeth Paynter) Schmidt, Melissa (Ryan) Radschlag, Justin Schmidt, Alexander (Molly) Schmidt, Kelly Schmidt, Margaret (Cory) Clapper, Abigail (Colton) Meyer, Tyler Schmidt, Shawn Schmidt, and Jeffery (Krystal) Schmidt; great-grandmother of Amelia, Naomi, Muriel, Riley, August, Dorthea, Theodore, Jaxton, Eleanor, Collette, and Callen; dear sister of the late Joan (Clarence) Misialek; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews, remembered by many Wisconsin friends and as a sweet, always smiling friend of the staff and residents of St Joseph Village.

A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 13235 W Capitol Dr, Brookfield, WI 53005. An entombment will occur Wednesday, October 30, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, 13235 W Capitol Dr, Brookfield, WI 53005.
